Storage with a view
Next to the beautiful Kallfors golf course in Järna sits a battery park. The facility, which Qurrent steers and optimizes, has 4.47 MW of installed power and 9 MWh of storage capacity.
Byggledningen and Alstra Energy, both involved in the project, have long-standing partnerships with Qurrent and are used to setting up and establishing similar facilities together, all the way from project management to active market participation.
The facility itself is dimensioned to actively contribute to a more stable grid, which it does through power regulation and frequency control.
Behind the battery park are two parties with a shared vision for the future. Kallfors Gård leases the land to Fortis BESS and has prepared the site to suit the facility. Fortis BESS owns the facility and has made all the investments. The venture enables an active contribution to the transition of the energy system, while at the same time creating a new, long-term source of revenue.
The facility contributes to the grid in several ways: through participation in the ancillary-services markets, power regulation and frequency control, and by relieving existing grid infrastructure at peak load. By delivering these services, the facility's long-term economic value is strengthened while the value for the resource owner is maximized.
