Property development for the future
In Nyby in Uppsala, the property developer Fortis Fastigheter has created a residential area built with the future in mind. Every property has batteries and solar panels, and each building is optimized in different ways, according to its own unique energy goals.
Solar energy as part of long-term sustainability goals
Fortis Fastigheter has clear ambitions to contribute to increased production of renewable electricity, a clear goal for the properties they own and develop. Beyond their environmental benefit, environmentally certified buildings also help create attractive residential areas where people want to live long term.
Here in Nyby, solar energy has been installed on the properties' rooftops, and the many cabinets are optimized by Qurrent in different ways: from focusing on self consumption and peak shaving to participating in ancillary service markets, depending on each building's energy goals. In total the solar installation comprises 168 kWp across seven roofs and 336 panels.
Every building has its own battery cabinets, optimized individually toward its own goals, while the whole fleet together supports the grid. The sixteen cabinets, 50 kW each, are simultaneously active in up to six different ancillary service markets: FCR-D, FCR-N, FFR and mFRR. Together, Nyby offers 800 kW of flexible capacity to the grid, combined with solar panels on the rooftops. A broader collaboration stands behind the project, involving, beyond Fortis Fastigheter, Byggledningen, Alstra Energy, Qurrent and Entelios.
