Expanding trading opportunities for Nordic C&I battery customers
Qurrent and Danish energy provider Emaldo are partnering to open up energy trading and greater market access for Emaldo's C&I battery customers in Sweden and Finland.

- Through a new partnership between Qurrent and Emaldo, Emaldo customers in Sweden and Finland can now access greater energy trading capabilities.
- Through an initial project in Tungelsta, Sweden, three Emaldo batteries connected to Qurrent's optimization and trading system have been deployed at a commercial greenhouse.
- The partnership is expected to expand beyond the Nordics in time, with both companies pursuing international growth.
Swedish energy optimizer Qurrent has entered a new partnership with Danish smart energy solutions provider Emaldo, expanding trading opportunities for Emaldo's commercial and industrial (C&I) battery customers across Sweden and Finland. As an independent optimizer, Qurrent works with several manufacturers and suppliers, focusing on creating the best possible value based on each customer's unique conditions. Through these partnerships, these customers gain access to Qurrent's energy trading capabilities and greater market access in order to maximize the earnings potential of their battery assets.
To counterbalance the variability of renewable energy, C&I batteries are being increasingly adopted by businesses both to optimize their own renewable energy usage and to generate an income from selling excess capacity to the grid via providers like Emaldo.
Through Qurrent's network of balance-responsible parties, Emaldo's business customers gain access to additional energy and ancillary service markets, creating more opportunities to generate revenue from their battery assets. Qurrent's intelligent optimization platform then trades automatically on their behalf, buying and selling energy when prices are most favourable.
The partners have already deployed a project in Tungelsta, Sweden, where three 261 kWh batteries have been installed by Emaldo at a commercial greenhouse and connected to Qurrent's system for control and optimization. In addition to spot trading, the batteries are active in eight frequency and balancing markets, including FCR-N, FCR-D, FFR, mFRR capacity and mFRR energy activation.
Over 12 months of active market participation, more than 3,500 MWh of flexibility has been made available to Sweden's transmission system operator, Svenska kraftnät.
The partnership is expected to expand further and serve new markets in the future, in line with the growth ambitions of both companies.
A strong partnership is about more than a technical integration. It takes open dialogue, solving challenges together and continually looking for ways to create more value for customers. That's the kind of collaboration we're building with Emaldo.
As we expand our capabilities, it's important to work with partners who understand both the technology and the energy markets. Connecting a battery is only the first step - we also need to put its flexibility to work in a smart way and keep developing optimization opportunities as markets evolve. Qurrent brings the expertise and market access to help us deliver lasting value for our customers.
